Kalamazoo Supports Medicare for All!
The Southwest Michigan Democratic Socialists of America (SWMI DSA) Medicare for All Working Group has recently submitted a resolution to the City of Kalamazoo Commission urging their support for Medicare for All.
The resolution, which can be read here, will affirm the City of Kalamazoo as a city that believes in healthcare as a human right. It will add the City’s voice to a growing number of cities across the nation and force our ‘progressive’ leaders to commit to supporting universal healthcare.
For this resolution to pass, we need your help!
Here’s what you can do to help this resolution pass.
Email your Commissioners!
If you live in the City of Kalamazoo, contact your Commissioners and Mayor! Tell them why it’s important to support Medicare for All. Tell them your stories about our dreadful healthcare system. Ask them if they will support this resolution. Click here to see a handy template and all the contact details!
Sign our Petition!
Join Our Next Meeting!
Help our campaign by coming to our next meeting as we plan our next steps as well as campaigns outside of Kalamazoo. Get meeting info by signing up for SWMI DSA updates!
Spread the Word!
Encourage others to reach out to their commissioners, share the petition, tell people about Medicare for All!
Historic and revolutionary legislation such as Medicare for All is only possible with grassroots organizing. The current healthcare system is powerful and only a working class lead mass movement can transform it.
Join us in this fight for a fairer, more just healthcare system.
About the SWMI DSA Medicare for All Working Group
We believe that healthcare is a human right and our working group is currently leading the fight for Medicare for All in South West Michigan. The group’s work ranges from raising awareness to lobbying our politicians directly. In 2020, the Kalamazoo County Commission approved a resolution supporting Medicare for All. The effort to pass the resolution was organized by members of SWMI DSA.
