Mothers of Hope (MoH) and the Southwest Michigan chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are working together to build a community garden at the MoH house and we need your help. Mothers of Hope is a grassroots organization with a long record of helping individuals and families in Kalamazoo escape the downward spiral of addiction.
One of MoH’s most rewarding projects has been the Liepman Music Enhancement Program. This program uses music education to bring at-risk youth together with parents and mentors. Students in the program improve their academic, behavioral, and social skills while receiving much-needed support. This helps students stay in school, graduate, and become eligible for the Kalamazoo Promise and other opportunities to improve academic and professional skills.
MoH will use the Garden of Hope to initiate a program that parallels the successful model of the music program. To make this a reality, we need your help. You can help our effort to build nine raised beds, fill them with soil and vegetables, and launch this exciting program this spring.
